Description
The Department of Religion at Baylor University seeks to fill a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer (Hebrew Bible/Old Testament) to start August 1, 2027. In addition to courses in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, the person hired will also teach core curriculum courses (Christian Scriptures and/or Christian Heritage). Candidates will be active in a local Christian community of faith. Preference will also be given to candidates active in a local Baptist congregation. The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Phil. Candidates who are outside of the United States and do not have other nonimmigrant visa status will not be sponsored for an H-1B petition.
This appointment is a renewable full-time, benefits-eligible, teaching-focused position with a 6-year promotion path to Senior Lecturer for successful candidates and a 12-year promotion path to Teaching Professor for highly successful candidates. Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D., Th.D., or D.Phil.
In addition to courses in Hebrew Bible/Old Testament, including Biblical Hebrew, the person hired will also teach core curriculum courses (Christian Scriptures and/or Christian Heritage). Since the focus of this position is undergraduate teaching, candidates with demonstrated teaching effectiveness will be preferred. Candidates will be active in a local Christian community of faith. Preference will also be given to candidates active in a local Baptist congregation.
